Teacher training is a core component of NEST’s programme. NEST has successfully organised short term teacher training workshops on Early Childhood Education, Teaching Science, and Maths.  ICFON has been supporting NEST to organise short term workshops for primary and lower secondary teachers.

NEST has signed an agreement with Tara Education to run a side-by-side teaching training programme from 2010. Dr. Mary Mckenna and Ms. Lisa Howard from Tara Education will work with teachers from Prajwal School and two other government schools for six months in order to introduce child-centred teaching methodology.  We hope that the teachers who work with Mary and Lisa will then be able to transfer their skills to other teachers of the school and other neighbouring schools through a community of practice.
