Interns introduction

Sabina Shrestha, INSPIRE intern

Sabina Shrestha

I have passed the SLC  from  Siddarth secondary school Hetauda.  Then I joined the Bhutah Devi Higher Secondary School.  My major subject is English, because I like English language.  I have had experience of English language.  In 2063 before SLC exam I learned basic English language.  Before I had been afraid to learn English because I didn’t speak English.  After I joined class eleven I had chosen English subject. That time English is important than other subjects so I realized that English is important to us. Nowadays I listen carefully in English classes.

In this course I expect to learn how to be a good teacher.  I wish integrate different language skills.  I also want to develop observation skills and record the behavior of children.

At last I say something about my English teacher, Shejjana Paudyal.  She is my idol. She inspires me to speak English language and other activities.  My parents also motivate me to get knowledge about English language.

In this way I learn English language.

From this internship program I hope my English language will be better, and I expect this programe will help me to be confident, successful and experienced teacher in the future, and knowledgeable about the educational field.

My family’s main job is agriculture but my father is also a teacher.  He taught in ‘shree Matokori Lawore Secondary School, Herda’.  My mother is a house wife.  My two sisters are at college and my two brothers and I are school students.

I was born in a remote area, so didn’t get the opportunity to study English at school.  When I was 6 years old I joined the government school and started student life.  I learnt some English from teachers at school but also by reading books in English.  I live in the country side so there is little opportunity to learn English, when I passed SLC I went to Hetauda to take English as a major subject.  At college I was excited to learn more English, I learnt from teachers and newspapers.

I am a student majoring in English. When I found out about the inspire project from teachers at school I wanted to participate.  My hope is to learn and have a better knowledge of English and to become a perfect English teacher.

I am from a remote area where their English language is narrow.  I take this programme to because I want to develop English language in remote area to produce good and experience citizen who help the counties development.

Her name is Rup Kumari Ghimire.  I have two brothers they study in  grade 11 and 6.  To reach my home you have to go by bus from Herduda bus station.  It takes 15 minutes.  My village is small it has 400 houses and 2000 people.  All the people are not educated.  Most people are farmers.  There is one primary school, one private school and one higher education school in Padampokhari that are within a 30 minute walk from my village.  We have drinking water, electricity, communication, transportation and e-mail.

I am the eldest daughter in my family.  When I was four years old my parents admitted me to a modern private school in Hetauda 9, Pashupatingar.  The teacher gave us a task but I didn’t understand and found it difficult, he took my tiffin box unless I finished the task.  So this way I learnt the alphabet.  In the same way my maternal aunt taught me English at home.

There are two schools i.e. lower Secondary and Secondary School near my village but they are both 3 km far from my village. In these schools, teachers don’t use English language even in English class. They teach the English lesson by translating it into Nepali language.

In my community, some parents still don’t let their children to go and study in schools. They think that their children only as their helpers.

I joined school when I was eight years old. During that time, I got to study English only when I reached grade 4. I thought it was an unnecessary subject for Nepali. But when I joined Secondary level, I realized its importance in my life. I tried to read English books. At first it was very difficult for me but I didn’t give up. I passed my School Level Examination and came in town from village to take higher secondary education. After that I thought deeply its importance in our life and tried to read different types of books, newspaper daily. I took English as my Major subject in +2 level. Though I was weak in English, I took English to improve my English language.

I have great expectations from this programme. It is a golden opportunity for me. We can’t get such types of instructional training even if we pay money. In my opinion, it will prepare skilful human resources. after taking the training, we will be able to manage students’ response and to teach according to their will, solve classroom problems as a good teacher.
