About
NEST aims to bring a sustainable and substantial improvement in the quality of life of disadvantaged communities in Nepal primarily through creating education opportunities for marginalised groups particularly for girls, children with different abilities, Dalit and ethnic minorities. NEST helps them to get a good education, one which is relevant to their needs, suited to their environment, and one which will help them to overcome poverty and live healthily and safely in their community.
NEST was registered in July 2000 as a non-government organisation with the District Administration Office, Makawanpur, Nepal. It is affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (SWC) and a member of NGOS’ Federation of Nepal.
Since its inception, NEST in partnership with ICFON, the Netherlands has created education and income generation opportunities for 90 families through goat and buffalo raising programme, has supported Janapriya Technical School, Hatiya to improve the quality of JTA and VET training sponsoring lab equipments and teaching materials and hostel facilities. NEST’s programmes directly contribute to achieving the District Education Plans which ultimately lead towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals and Education for All goals.
NEST likes to thank Mr. Alex Street, then a GAP volunteer in Nepal who initially helped to set up this charity.
